Entrepreneurship with a purpose

We are travelling to one of the most fascinating myths of Greek mythology.  We’re talking about Prometheus, one of the first rebels with a cause who dared to challenge the power of the gods for the benefit of humanity. The world of entrepreneurship also has its own modern Prometheus.  It is the case of Marc Coloma, cofounder of Heura Foods, a company that is revolutionising the food industry with an innovative product:  100% vegetable meat.

The myth

Prometheus was the first major rebel of history.  A titan who, according to Greek mythology, created humankind from clay.  Prometheus had a mission and a vision: to protect his most prized creation, us.  That’s why he had no doubt in confronting Zeus himself, that is to say, the established power in the time of Olympus.  Annoyed with Prometheus, Zeus punished the humans by depriving them of fire, which caused misery to the people. Prometheus stole the fire from the gods and gave it back to the people, becoming in this way the benefactor of the people.  Therefore the fire of Prometheus changed history, and the 100% vegetable meat of Heura Foods is changing our way of eating and living.

How to start up a transforming project with a purpose

You can also be a modern Prometheus.  These are the keys for challenging the status quo and making an initiative come true capable of improving the world.

  • Look for a project of maximum impact focused on resolving a major social challenge.
  • A non-conformist and brave attitude.  As one of the maxims of the good rebel movement says: “we have more power than we think”.
  • Contribute real solutions to the problem.  In the case of Heura, the example is the decarbonisation of the livestock sector.
  • Always be in a process of constant improvement and renewal of the product and service.
  • Create a team with shared values, in which there’s a balance between attitude, experience and potential.
