Before beginning any business activity in a specific location (premises, office or facility), you must notify the Administration or apply for an environmental authorisation or permit.  

Whether you need one or the other will depend on the business activity and the objective elements it comprises (surface area of the premises, workshop or warehouse, potential customer capacity, production capacity, power output of the machinery…). Barcelona City Council regulates these aspects through the regional laws and the Municipal Ordinance on Activities and the Integral Intervention of the Environmental Administration (OMAIA).
